» Who we are

A family-run road surfacing business

MAC Surfacing began in 2004 with a clear operating idea: own the capability that customers depend on. The business grew from a mini paver into paving, planing, labour, transport and workshop teams that now support contractors and completed schemes nationwide.

2004–2010

Foundations

Plant, people and the first depots that made a self-delivered model possible.

2004

Company incorporated. Mini paver and beavertail purchased.

2005

Midi paver added to the fleet.

2006

Tipton depot purchased.

2007

Name changed to MAC Surfacing. Jake Wherton appointed director.

2008

MC Transport incorporated. Hotbox added to the fleet.

2009

Bomag BF600 standard paver purchased. Marc Copson joins the family business.

2010

Planing division established. ISO 9001 achieved.

2011–2015

Expansion

Major contracts, depot growth, systems investment and the company rebrand.

2011

Amey London becomes a first key contract. Oldbury depot purchased.

2012

IT investment made. Matthew Ward joins the team.

2013

In-house maintenance strengthened. Fleet moves to Vogele machines.

2014

MAC group merged. Tipton office expansion. Mark Hibbert bought into the business.

2015

Company rebrand. Aggregate Industries Supply Chain Partner of the Year.

2016–2019

Scale & leadership

Larger planing capacity, wider leadership depth and formal training provision.

2016

2 m planer introduced. London office implemented. Paul Gutteridge appointed director.

2017

Mark Copson moves from MD to Chairman.

2018

MAC becomes an approved NPORS training provider.

2019

Marc Copson takes the role of Managing Director.
