Ahmed Forces - Mac Surfacing

I am proud to be the Armed Forces Champion for MAC Surfacing, as well as a Cadet Force Adult Volunteer with Staffordshire & West Midlands (North) Army Cadet Force. My personal relationship with Defence extends into every aspect of both roles, from supporting and promoting the Armed Forces Covenant to providing young adults with the opportunity gain transferable skills, build confidence, meet new people & make a difference in their communities. MAC Surfacing give me the time to attend training weekends, annual camps, Armed Forces Covenant events, both as a company representative & Cadet Force Instructor, and they give me the opportunity to 'pay it forward' to the next generation.

James - Mac Surfacing

I was a Royal Engineer plant operator and was trained on various plant, as well as driving wagons & drawbars with trailers. When I started at MAC, my previous training really helped me. I was using skills I already had but learning new ones too. My experience in time keeping and working as part of a team were invaluable & my plant knowledge meant my abilities were appreciated. During my time at MAC, I have become qualified as a driver trainer & assessor, and I am responsible for teaching all new drivers how to load & secure plant.

John - Mac Surfacing

I joined the Army initially as an infantryman but changed my role to specialist driver during my phase 1 training. After phase 2 training was complete, I was posted to Afghanistan as part of a close support squadron in 4 Regiment Royal Logistics Corps. We supplied FOB’s (forward operating bases) with all the essential supplies needed to complete our mission in the area. I already had some experience of the surfacing industry from before joining the Army, but with MAC I have acquired new skills, gained more experience & developed in my role. I am more than just a driver here. I think the Army and MAC share a similar ethos and are both ready to deploy safely & punctually. My old regimental motto was ‘providing the power to the punch’ & this is what we do here at MAC too.
