Construction charity close to home for local company
They say charity begins at home, and for MAC Surfacing Limited that also means supporting those that work in the industry that they feel so passionate about. Back in 1956 a group of men vowed to build something to benefit and unite the entire construction industry, which led to the formation of the Lighthouse Club. One evening at Whitely Bay as the sky lit up by St Marys Light the charity was launched, a perfect cause for the Tipton based road surfacing company to support.
Soon after the Lighthouse Club Benevolent Fund was introduced, as a registered charity it sought to provide aid and assistance to construction workers that were unfortunate enough to suffer an accident of illness. As an established charity it now grants over 12 million of financial aid helping over 12,500 families within the industry.
MAC Surfacing Limited are committed to the industry, sourcing local talent where possible ensuring that they keep the family run business in touch with its Black Country roots, as well as supporting the charity. Marc Copson, Managing Director explains? Both the local community and the industry as a whole are important to us as a company and we feel proud to be able to support such a worthwhile cause. Unfortunately accidents do happen, but it is at these times that we need to support our fellow industry colleagues, and we are pleased to be able to help where we can?.
As a Charity Champion, MAC Surfacing Limited not only donate a sizable amount to the Fund but they also look to support the Lighthouse Club throughout the year in any way they can from additional charity sponsorship activities to attending events.
The Lighthouse Club Benevolent Fund continues to undertake it fantastic work in the industry providing financial aid and advice to those that need it, whilst MAC Surfacing Limited look for additional ways in which to support this valuable and worthwhile cause.
