Expanding 2 metre Planer fleet

Leading hirer to the road building and maintenance sector - MAC Surfacing - has purchased its second Wirtgen W210i large milling machine following significant demand for heavy-duty 2-metre planers from its customer base.

The new addition follows the excellent performance and popularity of the company's first W210i model which was purchased just six months ago. It joins an extensive fleet of equipment and skilled personnel available for hire to road building and maintenance contractors.

MAC Surfacing Director, Marc Copson said:

"Purchasing the first 210i model was a major step for us - into a previously untested market. However, it has proved extremely popular with medium and large contractors working on major carriageway work. This larger, heavy duty equipment is a natural extension to our fleet as we aim to offer a full suite of equipment for hire to the road surfacing industry.

"Such was the demand for the first machine that the addition of this second Wirtgen model was a logical progression - helping to ensure continued product availability to customers across our full spectrum of plant and equipment.

"Our customers demand the highest quality kit and fuel efficiency on machines of this scale is also crucial. Feedback on the two Wirtgen models is that they tick both of those boxes so they are proving excellent additions to our hire fleet."

Weighing in at 29,150kg, and with a maximum engine power of 537kW (720hp) courtesy of two US Tier 4f / EC Stage 4 compliant Cummins engines, the Wirtgen 210i strikes the balance between optimum milling performance and low fuel consumption. The new MAC models can plane depths from 0-330mm and at speeds of 0-85m/min

Features include: the Parallel To Surface alignment system, Intelligent Speed Control for improved traction and the innovative Dual Engine Concept. This unique system in the planer sector accurately matches engine output to the requirements of each job to minimise fuel consumption and subsequent operating costs for contractors. Wirtgen machines are also unique in adopting the Vacuum Cutting System which reduces the amount of airborne particles produced by the milling process - improving visibility while protecting the machine's engine and operator.
