Project Overview
We were contacted on 17th May asking if we could “pull a rabbit out of a hat” and carry out 5 schemes along the women’s Tour of Britain route in Gloucestershire before 3rd June 22. The client hadn’t got any design detail for these schemes as it was a last-minute request and 2 contractors had already said it couldn’t be done in the timescale. Leaving us just 11 working days to inspect the sites, propose designs, organise resources and carry out the works, we obviously said “yeah, no problem.”
We organised a site visit within a couple of days and submitted our recommendations by the end of the week. After finalising the specifications we started looking at programmes and were left with no choice but to squeeze all of the works into the 3-day Queen’s Platinum Jubilee bank holiday week. After collaborating with Ringway, we established that we were going to have to work days & nights to stand a chance of meeting the fastly approaching deadline.
Thanks to the collaboration between MACSurfacing, Ringway and our supply chain we were able to plane out and replace 4,167.72m2 across 21 patches over 5 sites in 3 days/nights. The job ran like clockwork and was completed on time and on budget.
"Please pass on my thanks to Mark and the team for their performance on the Tour of Britain patching last week, especially on the night time work on the A48, can't praise the guys conduct and efforts enough, final finish to the work is spot on.”
