Project Overview

Construction of a new six-lane toll bridge overthe River Mersey along with 9km of local road upgrades to relieve congestion on the ageing SIlver Jubilee Bridge that runs parallel to thenew bridge.

Civils - We carried out minor civil’s work on numerous new and reconfigured road junctions. This included installation of pedestrian guard rail, kerbing, setting of iron work and drainage works.

Surfacing - We also carried out surfacing works to these junctions that ranged from small handlaying reinstatements to full footway construction by machine. We were also tasked with full carriageway surfacing works at these junctions and other enabling projects associated with the project. On the bridge itself we also carried out footpath surfacing and also the central reservation.

Programming was one of the main hurdleson this project as we had to work collaboratively with a number of other contractors. This resulted in us having tohave an extremely fluid approach to our works so that we could constantly work alongside other trades involved on the project. Our hands-on approach with the client enabled us to come up with innovative solutions for surfacing the central reservation as normal methods were simply just not possible due to the access restrictions associated with the job.

Early involvement with planning and programming of the different sites enabled us to point out any problems we could envisage early on to help eliminate any issues when the crews turn up to site to carry out work. Good communication with the main contractor and other contractors involved was also key in delivering an extremely high profile project on time.
