» Project overview

In June 2023, we completed over 7,000m2 of resurfacing at Burntwood Way, Burntwood onbehalf of Amey LG Ltd for Staffordshire County Council.

The round about is the link between the A5195 and the T6 exit/entrance of the M6 Toll. It sees a significant volume of traffic so the work could only be done during the night. We participated in several meetings to agree on a phasing programme which caused the least disruption to the M6 Toll.

Over 6 nights we planed and relayed the surface course on the round about and on sections on the A5195. Around 80% of the area was replaced with HRA 35/14 F Surf Des& 14/20 PCC’s to ensure better durability. We made use of the KS12-16 Extendachip which allowed us to lay all 3 rings of the roundabout, dog legs and varying patches with one chipping machine.

The works were completed on time and to ahigh standard, with the ride quality of a busy junction being significantly improved.
